10-14 August

Discover a week full of adventure with our Little Explorers: Out & About Adventures at Junior Summer Holiday Club! Designed for children aged 3–6, Week 4 is all about getting outdoors, trying new experiences and building confidence through exciting, hands-on activities. From park trips and nature crafts to a special cinema outing and fun-filled camp day, each day offers something new to explore. Children will enjoy highlights such as a U-Sports session, creative den building, scavenger hunts, s’mores making, and refreshing water play to round off the week. With a perfect balance of adventure, creativity and outdoor discovery, Week 4 promises unforgettable summer memories, laughter and learning every step of the way.

Monday 10 August

We begin the week with an exciting combination of movement, creativity, and outdoor exploration. Children will take part in a fun and engaging U-Sports coaching session, building confidence, coordination, and teamwork skills in a lively and supportive environment. Alongside this, they will enjoy hands-on creative activities such as making bird feeders, encouraging an early love for nature and caring for wildlife. After lunch, the day slows into a calm and reassuring routine with story time and group games, before children head outdoors for free play on bikes and scooters. The afternoon is filled with imaginative and sensory-rich experiences as children explore leaf painting, create their own fruit kebabs, and work together to build cosy dens—perfect for imaginative adventures. The day continues outdoors after dinner, where children can freely explore the mud kitchen, water play areas, and sports activities before ending with joyful music and movement games.

Tuesday 11 August

Tuesday invites children into the outdoors for a gentle yet exciting day at Oaken Grove Park, where they can connect with nature and enjoy a relaxed picnic setting. Throughout the day, children will create beautiful nature frames, collecting leaves, flowers, and twigs to make their own natural artwork – encouraging curiosity and creativity in the world around them. Following lunch, children enjoy a restful story time and group games session, before continuing their outdoor fun. The afternoon offers a sensory-rich nature tracing activity, where children discover patterns and textures in their environment, followed by the special treat of making and enjoying s’mores together. After dinner, children continue to enjoy the open air with bikes, water play, sand exploration, and group games—making the most of a joyful summer day outdoors.

Wednesday 12 August

Midweek brings a special highlight as children set off on a cinema trip, travelling by bus into town – an exciting adventure in itself! After the film, children will enjoy lunch together in the park, turning the outing into a full day of exploration and shared experiences. Back at the setting, the afternoon offers a gentle and reassuring return to routine with story time and group games, allowing children to relax after their big adventure. Creative and physical play follows, including den building, energetic obstacle courses, calming aqua bead sensory play, and interactive group games like “In, Out, Spin” that encourage listening and coordination. As always, the day finishes outdoors with relaxed play, giving children space to move, unwind, and socialise.

Thursday 13 August

Thursday brings the spirit of adventure to life with a fun-filled camp-themed day at the park. Children take part in an exciting scavenger hunt, searching for natural treasures and working together as a team. After lunch, children settle into their familiar routine of story time and group activities, followed by outdoor play. The afternoon invites creativity and problem-solving as children build their own mini houses using sticks and twigs, explore nature painting, and enjoy imaginative junk modelling. These activities encourage children to think creatively, collaborate, and connect with the natural world around them. After dinner, the outdoor fun continues with scooters, water and sand play, and group games, creating a relaxed end to an adventurous day.

Friday 14 August

We finish the week with laughter, energy, and celebration as children enjoy a fun-filled day at the park. The highlight of the afternoon is exciting water balloon play, bringing plenty of giggles and refreshing summer fun (with a change of clothes recommended!). After lunch, children enjoy their familiar calm time with stories and group games, before moving into creative and imaginative play. The afternoon includes a cosy mini fire pit role play, where children can gather for storytelling, encouraging communication and imagination in a warm, group setting. The final hours of the week are spent enjoying the outdoors – playing games, riding bikes, and celebrating friendships – before ending the day with music, movement, and smiles all around. Week 4 is all about exploration, confidence, and outdoor adventure – giving children the freedom to discover, create, and thrive in the summer sunshine.

Each day at Junior Holiday Club, children aged 3–6 enjoy a wonderful balance of choice, creativity and active play, with lots of opportunities to make new friends in a warm, nurturing environment. Our youngest children are supported by dedicated key workers who help them feel confident, settled and ready to explore. Throughout the day, children can take part in a variety of fun, age-appropriate physical activities such as simple team games, ball play, and obstacle-style challenges that encourage movement, coordination and teamwork.

There is always a wide range of engaging free-play opportunities available, including colouring, group games, Lego building and a fantastic selection of arts and crafts materials that children can choose from and enjoy at their own pace. Imaginative play is a big highlight, with dressing-up, dolls and a cosy home corner kitchen where children can role play and bring their ideas to life. Sensory experiences are also a big part of the day, from making playdough to enjoying messy play and hands-on activities that spark curiosity and creativity.

For quieter moments, children can relax in soft, cosy reading corners, perfect for looking at books, sharing stories or simply recharging. Outdoors, children have plenty of space to stretch their legs and explore—riding bikes and scooters, playing games, and enjoying the fresh air in our large outdoor areas. With so much variety and freedom of choice, every child can follow their interests, try new things and enjoy a happy, active and memorable holiday experience.

Please note:

All planned outings and park visits are subject to change in the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, such as transport disruptions, weather conditions, or venue availability. In the unlikely event that we need to amend our plans, we will arrange a suitable alternative outing or activity to ensure the children continue to have a safe, enjoyable, and engaging experience. We will communicate any changes with parents as soon as possible.
