I’m a celebrity, get me outta here! Brace yourself for a wild week packed with den building, bug hunting, fossil art, crafting bug models from junk, and getting down and dirty in the mud hunting for critters. Reptile man will bring along his scaly critters and we will embark on a train journey to Marlow to feed the ducks and enjoy a picnic. Let the outdoor escapades begin! See below for what we have in store each day.
CLIMBERS AND CREEPERS WEEK
Monday 19 August
We are going to start the week creating lots of bugs from a range of different materials including junk modelling with pipe cleaners and egg boxes, as well as fruit snails using grapes, celery, apples and tomatoes. We will play on the climbing wall and enjoy all the new sports equipment we have available for our Juniors. We will venture out for group games at the local park and finish the day making finger puppet insects.
Tuesday 20 August
We are off to the park for a bug hunt with jars and magnifying glasses. We will collect leaves for our afternoon activity and to create a comforting home for our bugs. We will make leaf butterflies, playdough fossils and spider webs, practising our fine motor skills with weaving and threading. We will finish off the day making spider pizza and cooling down with some water play.
Wednesday 21 August
Today we will go on an exciting adventure to Marlow Park by train. Here we will play on the new playground and feed the ducks after our picnic in the park. We will explore Marlow Park and go in search of more minibeasts. Back at basecamp we will spend time playing group games outdoors. On top of all of this we will create playdough fossils, fossil printing and bug stencils.
Thursday 22 August
Thursday is about our slimy and scaly creatures, with a visit from the very popular Reptile Man. We will get to hold snakes, lizards and turtles and learn about many different reptiles. We will make hanging snake swirls and our own egg carton caterpillars. There will be plenty of time for free play and an opportunity to paint a picture of our favourite reptile. We will head to the local playground to have fun with friends.
Friday 23 August
Today we will wrap up our climbers and creepers week making bug hotels to take home, painting stones to make our favourite bugs and creating a grasshopper footprint picture. We will enjoy some sensory mud play with creepy crawlies and do some bug yoga, with yoga poses like bugs.
Each day, children can take part in a variety of sport and physical activities like basketball, football, skipping, bouldering and bench ball, as well as enjoy a variety of free-time activities including board games, colouring in, Lego competitions, group games, and a wide selection of arts and crafts materials to choose from.
Please note: While we do plan to visit the park every day, this is weather dependent.
