Let’s Get Active Week 1

24-25 July

Let’s Get Active

This week at holiday club will be filled with fun, laughter, and adventure as children settle in, make new friends, and enjoy a wide variety of exciting activities. From imaginative crafts like explosive monster-making and abstract art collages, to energetic outdoor games including hopscotch challenges, relay races, and the classic egg and spoon competition, there will be something for everyone. Children will explore nature through forest play and scavenger hunts, get creative with cupcake baking and sensory experiences like mud kitchen and water play, and enjoy plenty of sports and team challenges. A special visit from Fred in the Shed will bring magic, silliness, and plenty of giggles for our juniors. Group games such as tug of war and pass the parcel will help build teamwork and confidence, making it a fantastic week full of creativity, connection, and joyful memories.

As well as the thoughtfully planned timetable of activities below, each day, children have the choice to take part in a variety of sports and physical activities like basketball, football, skipping, bouldering and bench ball, as well as a wide selection of arts and crafts materials to choose from. They will also enjoy lots of free-time in between scheduled activities where they can play board games, colouring, Lego competitions, group games, dress ups, junk modelling and more.

Thursday 24 July

We will start the summer with a cheerful morning register where children receive their key group stickers and a quick refresher on the golden rules of holiday club, introduce the tea and discuss what they need to know to stay safe at club. ️Then, everyone will enjoy a refreshing snack and drink to fuel up for the fun ahead! Outside, the little ones can take part in an exciting Outdoor Hopscotch Challenge, while at the Paint Station, creativity bursts as children make explosive monsters using cotton circle pads. Our 5-6 year olds dive into a thrilling football match, showing off their dribbling skills, while the 3-4 year olds embark on a delightful Scavenger Hunt through the lovely Oaken Grove, ending with a lovely picnic in the park. After lunch, it’s time for more energetic activities: gym equipment challenges, fun sports games on the field, exploring the enchanting outdoor forest play, and an exciting relay race to get those legs moving fast! Crafty moments follow as we enjoy making play dough and later, in small groups, play a fun game of hide and seek. The afternoon wraps up with more outdoor play, gym equipment fun, and sports games, allowing children to explore and enjoy every moment in nature.

Friday 25 July

Today we get ready for a day full of hands-on creativity and outdoor excitement. The juniors will whip up delicious cupcakes for pudding, and little artists will create stunning abstract art by sticking different coloured and shaped papers onto A4 cards. We’re thrilled to welcome the one and only Fred in the Shed to our holiday club for juniors aged 3–6 years! Get ready for laugh-out-loud magic, silly fun, and tons of audience giggles in a show specially designed for little ones. After a healthy snack, the outdoors transforms into a playground of imagination with mud kitchen play, water and sand play, and a free range of sports games for all ages to enjoy. A highlight will be drawing around friends’ shadow images on the floor with chalk, followed by the classic egg and spoon race full of giggles and friendly competition. Post lunch, Juniors will test their agility on the gym equipment, enjoy more sports games, and explore the magical forest play area. An exhilarating obstacle course challenges their speed and coordination, while pass the parcel (split into two teams) brings lots of laughs and surprises. The afternoon continues with a competitive tug of war in two separate groups, finishing off with more outdoor play, gym activities, and sports to keep the energy high and spirits bright!
