Around the World Week 5

18-22 August

Around the World

Get your passports ready! This week, our little explorers are going Around the World—no plane tickets required! Each day brings a new country to life through hands-on crafts, music, storytelling, dancing, and delicious cultural treats. From the colours of India to the flavours of Italy, children will dive into global traditions with curiosity and creativity.  We’ll also explore international flavours with a fun themed menu—think fairy bread in Australia, noodles and Befanini cookies from Italy. It’s a joyful and delicious journey that brings the world to our doorstep!

As well as the thoughtfully planned timetable of activities below, each day, children have the choice to take part in a variety of sports and physical activities like basketball, football, skipping, bouldering and bench ball, as well as a wide selection of arts and crafts materials to choose from. They will also enjoy lots of free-time in between scheduled activities where they can play board games, colouring, Lego competitions, group games, dress ups, junk modelling and more.

See below for what we have in store each day.

Tuesday 19 August

We’ll start the day with a pasta play tuff tray followed by making pasta necklaces and building Leaning Tower of Pisa models from paper cups. Children will bake sweet Befanini cookies for a tasty Italian pudding. After snack, outdoor play and forest exploration provide balance and movement. In the afternoon, we’ll design Venetian Carnival masks, paint Italian flags 🇮🇹, and make spaghetti and meatball crafts. Children can also try their hand at Italian portrait painting—inspired by the masters!

Wednesday 20 August

Our colourful adventure continues with a visit to India! Children will craft paper plate elephants, make Taj Mahal-inspired collages, and learn traditional designs with rangoli patterns. The morning highlight is a high-energy Bollywood dance workshop full of rhythm and movement. After a picnic lunch, children will decorate biscuits with icing and sprinkles, visit our nail and hair bar, and enjoy organic henna tattoos and water-based body art. We’ll finish by crafting beautiful salt dough diyas—perfect for celebrating light, culture, and creativity.

Thursday 21 August

We start with Chinese flag making and colourful ice painting in the tuff tray. Children will explore a creative world of junk-modelling boats, chopstick challenge trays, and paper lanterns. The afternoon continues with more artistic fun—cherry blossom tree paintings, dragon masks, spiral snakes, and dragon paper chains. This lively and hands-on day introduces children to the traditions and artistry of the Far East.

Friday 22 August

Our world tour wraps up in Australia! The day begins with a mud and insect tuff tray, and children will explore dot painting inspired by Aboriginal art. For pudding, we’ll make classic Aussie fairy bread with 100s & 1000s. Outdoor fun continues with sand and water play, sports on the field, and the mud kitchen. In the afternoon, we’ll make zigzag snakes, craft the Sydney Opera House on paper plates, bake and decorate koala shortbread biscuits, and build koala paper plate crafts. A perfect end to our global adventure! We will head out to Punt Hill Park today (weather permitting).

Each day, children can take part in a variety of sport and physical activities like basketball, football, skipping, bouldering and bench ball, as well as enjoy a variety of free-time activities including board games, colouring in, Lego competitions, group games, and a wide selection of arts and crafts materials to choose from.

Please note: While we do plan to visit the park every day, this is weather dependent.
