On the Farm Week 4

11-15 August

On the Farm

Get ready to dig in and discover farmyard fun in Week 4 of Holiday Club! Our On the Farm theme brings animals to life through creative crafts, messy sensory play, outdoor adventures, and a real farm visit. With themed tuff trays, storytelling, forest exploration, and delicious treats, it’s going to be a moo-velous week!

As well as the thoughtfully planned timetable of activities below, each day, children have the choice to take part in a variety of sports and physical activities like basketball, football, skipping, bouldering and bench ball, as well as a wide selection of arts and crafts materials to choose from. They will also enjoy lots of free-time in between scheduled activities where they can play board games, colouring, Lego competitions, group games, dress ups, junk modelling and more.

See below for what we have in store each day.

Monday 11 August

We’ll kick off the week with a farm-themed tuff tray filled with mud, animals, veggies, and a mini farmhouse. Children will get crafty with junk modelling and make their own 3D cows using recycled materials. Outdoor fun continues with the mud kitchen, sand and water stations, and free-range sports games. In the forest school, young explorers will dig, climb, and play among the trees. Back indoors, we’ll craft funny corn-on-the-cob with googly eyes and lolly sticks, and create muddy pig paintings using finger paint and ziplock bags. The afternoon is packed with action as we welcome coaches from Maidenhead United for an exciting football session!

Tuesday 12 August

The farm comes to us today! We’re thrilled to welcome Basil Farm who’ll set up a mini petting zoo on site. Children will pet and feed friendly animals while learning about farm life in a safe, hands-on experience full of wonder and giggles. In the afternoon, we’ll get crafty with woolly sheep using cotton wool 🐑 and head outdoors for sports activities and another session in the forest school. It’s a whole farmyard experience!

Wednesday 13 August

We’ll begin with farm-themed painting stations using sponges, brushes, and even little hands! There’ll be water play with toy farm animals too—perfect for a splashing, sensory-rich experience. Later, we’ll venture to Oaken Grove Park for a picnic lunch. Back at Holiday Club, we’ll welcome a special visitor: The Reptile Man! Children will meet and hold real reptiles in a fun and interactive session. We’ll end the day on a sweet note by making chocolate chick nests with shredded wheat and melted chocolate.

Thursday 14 August

We’ll start by whipping up fruit milkshakes into a healthy morning snack. Then it’s off to the school library for a story time session. Outside, children will take part in Ducks in the Pond and Feed the Pig target games. We’ll also enjoy farm tattoos and water play with toy animals. In the afternoon, it’s back outdoors for sports on the field, forest school adventures, and lots of creative, energetic play to balance the day beautifully.

Friday 15 August

We’ll wrap up the week with a bang—and a splash! First up: the Muddy Animal Wash Station, where children “clean” toy animals in bubbly water. Then it’s time for sweet haystack treats made from Rice Krispies. We’ll dive into crafting Hama bead animal coasters or keyrings 🐑, paint handprint chickens 🐔, and join in lively games like Duck Duck Goose, I-Spy on the Farm, and classic farmyard singalongs. Children are invited to bring their bikes or scooters (helmets are compulsory).

Each day, children can take part in a variety of sport and physical activities like basketball, football, skipping, bouldering and bench ball, as well as enjoy a variety of free-time activities including board games, colouring in, Lego competitions, group games, and a wide selection of arts and crafts materials to choose from.

Please note: While we do plan to visit the park every day, this is weather dependent.
