Week 5: Summer Splash & Play

17-21 August

Get ready for the ultimate Summer Splash & Play Week, packed with energy, creativity and hands-on fun! From water games, slime making and tie-dye to a lively dance workshop, bouncy castle fun and a farm trip, every day is designed to be active, messy and full of excitement. With a brilliant mix of outdoor adventures, sensory exploration and creative experiences, children will have endless opportunities to play, create and make unforgettable summer memories with friends.

On top of all that, children can bring along their bikes and scooters to make the most of our outdoor spaces, challenge friends at pool and table football competitions, and dive into everything from messy play and baking to team games and the freedom to just be!

Monday 17 August

We kick off the week with a splash of summer fun! Children will enjoy water play activities including bucket challenges, water balloons and also building our own beach-themed diorama, alongside creative free play such as Lego, construction, dressing up and imaginative activities. After snack, the energy continues with bikes and scooters on the playground, followed by friendship bracelet making, homemade lemonade and den building. The day finishes with outdoor sports games, scooters, bikes and music games to round off a brilliant summer start.

Tuesday 18 August

A high-energy day packed with bouncing, making and hands-on fun! Children will enjoy unlimited bouncy castle time, alongside creative activities such as clay art and painting, slime making and glass sensory art. After snack, children continue with bikes and scooters before moving into candy floss making, treehouse play and construction challenges using Lego and Knex. The day finishes with outdoor sports games, scooters, bikes and music activities, bringing lots of energy and fun to a close.

Wednesday 19 August

A fun, messy and creative summer-inspired day! Children will take part in tie-dye activities, explore cloud dough and enjoy building their own beach-themed diorama, alongside imaginative free play including Lego, construction, dressing up and creative role play. A highlight of the day is our super cool street dance workshop, led by a professional dance teacher. This energetic session gives children the chance to learn fun routines, build confidence and express themselves through music and movement – always a firm favourite and loved by all! After snack, bikes and scooters are out on the playground, followed by Rice Krispy making, junk modelling and relaxed colouring activities. The day finishes with outdoor sports games, scooters, bikes and music games for a lively end to the day. A vibrant midweek mix of creativity, energy and summer fun!

Thursday 20 August

Thursday at Discovery Club brings even more adventure. A very special highlight of the day is a visit from the much-loved mobile farm, Basil Farm! A firm favourite with the children, this hands-on experience gives them the opportunity to meet, feed and learn about a range of friendly farm animals — always a memorable and exciting experience for all! Children will enjoy exploring the farm environment alongside a range of creative and relaxed activities throughout the day. Highlights include making ice lollies and smoothies, spa-style activities, summer tattoos and nail bar fun, plus salt dough crafting. There will also be time for team games and relaxed challenges such as volleyball, sensory bottle making, wordsearches and Connect 4, creating a great balance of active and chilled summer fun with friends.

Friday 21 August

We end the week with a fun and relaxed celebration of summer! Children will enjoy beach cupcakes, ice painting and small-group bench ball, alongside free play and time with friends. The morning continues with a visit to Oaken Grove Park for outdoor play and fresh air before lunch. In the afternoon, children enjoy bikes, scooters and team challenges including tug of war, limbo and music and movement activities. A brilliant final day filled with energy, creativity and summer fun!

Each day, Discovery children have the freedom to take part in a variety of sport and physical activities like basketball, football, skipping, bench ball, as well as enjoy a range of free-time activities including board games, colouring in, Lego competitions, group games, and a wide selection of arts and crafts materials to choose from and enjoy at their own leisure. We have a quiet chill out zone for those just wanting to read books or magazines, do some scrapbooking or make something out of the wide range of materials available.On top of all that, children can bring along their bikes and scooters to make the most of our outdoor spaces, challenge friends at pool and table football competitions, and dive into everything from messy play and baking to team games and the freedom to just be!

All planned outings and park visits are subject to change in the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, such as transport disruptions, weather conditions, or venue availability. In the unlikely event that we need to amend our plans, we will arrange a suitable alternative outing or activity to ensure the children continue to have a safe, enjoyable, and engaging experience. We will communicate any changes with parents as soon as possible.
