Let’s Get Active Week 1

24-25 July

As well as the thoughtfully planned timetable of activities below, each day, children have the choice to take part in a variety of sports and physical activities like basketball, football, skipping, bouldering and bench ball, as well as a wide selection of arts and crafts materials to choose from. They will also enjoy lots of free-time in between scheduled activities where they can play board games, colouring, Lego competitions, group games, dress ups, junk modelling and more. Take a look below to see what we have in store each day.

Thursday 24 July

We’ll kick off with group time to settle in, get to know each other, and go over the golden rules. The morning gets creative with football stadium building using LEGO or giant cardboard boxes, plus a tasty break making marshmallow flower snacks. Late morning, we’ll head to Punt Hill Park for a picnic lunch, followed by a fast-paced relay race and outdoor games in the sunshine. Back at the club, the afternoon is packed with gym equipment, sports on the field, forest exploration, and a fun treasure hunt in the woods. We’ll finish the day with a high-energy group game of Bench Ball — teamwork, tactics, and lots of laughs to end on a high.

Friday 25 July

Bring your bike or scooter and get ready for an active day! We’ll start with tie-dye (don’t forget to bring something white to decorate) and a Knex building challenge — with a prize for the most creative design. The rest of the morning includes free play indoors or out, with arts & craft, board games or sports galore on offer, and cinnamon bread roll baking. We’ll also race in egg-and-spoon and three-legged competitions. In the afternoon, you can take on the forest obstacle course, join a fancy dress relay, face off in table tennis, and test your strength in a tug of war (with prizes for the winners!). We’ll wrap up the week with a fast, fun, and slightly chaotic game of Musical Chairs — perfect for ending the day on a high-energy note.

Each day, Discovery children have the freedom to take part in a variety of sport and physical activities like basketball, football, skipping, bouldering and bench ball, as well as enjoy a range of free-time activities including board games, colouring in, Lego competitions, group games, and a wide selection of arts and crafts materials to choose from and enjoy at their own leisure. We have a pool table and a table football table, and a chill out zone for those just wanting to read books or magazines, do some scrapbooking or make something out of the wide range of materials available.

Please note: While we do plan to visit the park every day, this is weather dependent.
