Our Discovery Holiday Club is the perfect place for older children to make the most of their half-term, with the freedom to choose how they spend their day. Alongside our exciting Halloween-themed activities, local adventures and special trips, children can enjoy our inspiring Discovery zones and plenty of time to relax, play and spend time with friends.
From dressing up and getting creative with Lego, K’Nex and crafts to board games, puzzles, Hama beads, bracelet making and outdoor messy play, there’s always something to get involved in. Children can also enjoy our home corner, chill-out spaces and outdoor play, giving them the independence and choice they love during the holidays.
We kick off the week with a day packed with Halloween creativity and fun. Children can get stuck into pumpkin carving, make spooky witch hat chocolate cones and create their own Halloween-inspired crafts. The afternoon brings even more spooky fun, with ghost shortbread biscuits and mummies made from mud rock, alongside plenty of free-flow opportunities to dress up, build with Lego and K’Nex, play board games, make bracelets and explore outdoors.
Tuesday brings a mix of baking, creativity and friendly competition. Children can bake their own gingerbread spider web biscuits before taking part in a group Halloween-themed joke challenge, with a prize for the winning group! There’s also a Halloween paint station, where children can get creative on canvas or card, before making spooky salt dough decorations and paper skeleton chains in the afternoon. We’ll also be getting active with a special Flamingo Club session and a fantastic bouncy castle!
On Wednesday, we’ll head out for some fresh air and outdoor fun at Oaken Grove Park. Back at the club, children can continue the Halloween theme by creating magical spell potion books or jars and designing their own Halloween cards. The afternoon brings even more creative fun, with pumpkin papier-mâché and marshmallow eyeball making, alongside our ever-popular Discovery free-flow activities.
Thursday is movie day! We’ll hop on the bus to the cinema for a special half-term film experience, with children able to bring money for popcorn if they wish. Back at the club, the Halloween fun continues as we decorate paper cups to create spooky characters, make Halloween treats and get creative with apple painting to create a pumpkin effect. Children can also make their own spooky popcorn hands before enjoying plenty of free-flow play.
We’ll finish the week with a huge Halloween celebration! Children can come dressed as their favourite spooky character for our fancy-dress day, complete with a Halloween Domino’s Pizza Party. There’ll be spooky slime and water-based tattoos to make, followed by an in-house Halloween disco packed with party games, limbo, musical games, pass the parcel and a lucky dip. And, of course, no Halloween party would be complete without a game of pin the nose on the pumpkin! It’s the perfect way to round off a fun-filled week of creativity, adventure, friendship and frightfully good fun.
