Discovery Club

Ages 7-14 years

At the heart of our Discovery Holiday Club this May Half Term,  is the freedom for children to shape their own day through purposeful, open-ended play. Every day, alongside our planned activities, Discovery children can enjoy a wide range of inspiring zones designed for independence, imagination and relaxation. They can challenge friends at the pool table or foosball table, unwind at the nail and beauty bar, or get creative in our construction zone using Lego, K’Nex and upcycled materials. Those who love the outdoors can build hideouts in our den building area, explore the forest school and roam our vast, leafy grounds. Indoors, our art and craft zone is always open for painting, modelling and mixed‑media projects, while the chill‑out zone offers a calm space to read, listen to music or simply relax with friends. These spaces are available daily, giving children the choice and autonomy that older learners thoroughly enjoy.

Tuesday 26 May – Off to Windsor

We begin the week with a morning of fresh air and energy at Grenfell Park, setting the tone for a day of exploration. After morning register and snack, we take the train to Windsor for an exciting day out. Arriving in time for the Changing of the Guard, children will take in the sights around Windsor Castle and explore this historic location. The afternoon continues with a visit to the Windsor & Royal Borough Museum, followed by time to relax and play at Clewer Memorial Recreation Ground. We’ll also take a stroll past St John’s Parish Church before heading to the riverside to feed the ducks. The day finishes with dinner at McDonald’s before returning, rounding off a full and memorable first day.

Wednesday 27 May

Day two is all about the outdoors, teamwork, and hands-on fun. Based on the field, children will work together to build their own camp areas, including tents and cosy spaces to relax in. Throughout the morning, they’ll take part in a range of team games such as tug of war, football, and group challenges, building confidence and cooperation along the way. Marshmallows will also be toasted for a classic camp-style treat. At lunchtime, children will prepare their own food, making chicken kebab skewers and hotdogs using instant BBQ trays, with staff supervision. They’ll also have the opportunity to chop their own vegetables, encouraging independence and practical skills. In the afternoon, the fun continues with an outdoor water fight (please bring a change of clothes!), followed by time for bikes and scooters. The day ends with children creating their own picnic-style dinner, rounding off a busy and active day outdoors.

Thursday 28 May

The day begins with a lively indoor music party, where children can take part in fun music games with small prizes to be won. For those who prefer a quieter option, there will be pool table and table football challenges, along with access to the art station and messy play area to create salt dough ornaments. After the morning activities, we’ll head to Grenfell Park for a relaxed picnic lunch. In the afternoon, we visit the Odeon Cinema for a shared film experience. Children are welcome to bring a small amount of money if they would like to purchase a popcorn meal (£4.99). After returning to Courthouse, children will have dinner followed by relaxed outdoor time, including bikes and scooters, mud kitchen play, water and sand activities, and a range of sports games to choose from.

Friday 29 May

On our final day we will be heading to Oaken Grove Park, where children can enjoy outdoor play and fresh air. A snack and picnic lunch will be enjoyed at the park before heading back to Courthouse for the afternoon. Back at the setting, children will take part in a baking session where they will be making their own banana bread. Those who prefer not to bake can enjoy outdoor water play, including a water fight (please bring a change of clothes!). The afternoon offers a variety of indoor activities, including an art station, pool table, table football, a nail bar, glitter tattoos, and henna designs. After dinner, children can enjoy outdoor time with bikes and scooters, along with mud kitchen play, water and sand activities, and a variety of sports games, finishing the week in a fun and relaxed way.
